Bulldogs’ Long and Pirates’ Sanchez Earn Top Preseason Honors

South Carolina State's Malcolm Long and Julio Sanchez of Hampton earned the MEAC top football preseason awards, as announced by the conference on Friday afternoon at the Norfolk Marriott Hotel. Long was selected as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Sanchez was named the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

ESPN NFL and college football analyst and former NFL head coach Herm Edwards will serve as keynote speaker at the sixth annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge Presented by Disney. For the fourth straight year, SportsCenter anchor Jay Harris will emcee the annual MEAC/SWAC Challenge Kickoff Banquet on Friday, Sept. 3, at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
The MEAC can lay claim to producing a plethora of outstanding performers and performances and as well as a multitude of memorable moments as it celebrates its 40th anniversary football season.
